Phil and Jacob both learned business at a young age. Phil sold coffee beans door to door as a teenager in the Middle East, and Jacob began ringing up customers at his dad’s grocery store in the Mission district of San Francisco when he was 10. In 2003, Phil decided to transform his grocery store into the first Philz Coffee. Jacob began running Philz Coffee full-time at 18 years old with the help of his dad. Today, Philz Coffee has become one of the most successful small coffee chains in the Bay Area, with 15 locations in NorCal and one location in SoCal. Philz Coffee now has 300 team members and caffeinates more than 15,000 people a day.
