Chris Wanstrath is a software developer and entrepreneur who co-founded GitHub in 2008 to make it easier to share software code and collaborate on software projects, both in the open source community and within companies. Today, GitHub is the largest code host in the world, with a community of 6M people building software together. As the CEO of GitHub, Chris is focused on leading the company, defining GitHub's vision and strategy, and working with the leadership team to realize GitHub's most ambitious goals. Prior to becoming CEO in January 2014, Chris was leading product development for GitHub. Before founding GitHub, Chris ran a Ruby on Rails consultancy where he helped launch startups, scale websites, and identify the problems that GitHub would eventually solve. He also worked as an engineer at CNET Networks.
