This episode features, Patrick Llewellyn joined 99designs, the world's largest graphic design marketplace, in 2009 after a decade advising Australian technology and media companies at NexTec Strategic Capital. In 2010 he moved to San Francisco to open a U.S. office and oversee U.S. and international expansion. Shortly after being appointed CEO in January 2011, Llewellyn guided 99designs to a $35 million first-round capital investment led by Accel Partners (Facebook, Dropbox, Etsy).  To date, 99designs has hosted more than 210,000 graphic design contests and paid out more than $50 million to its community of 220,000 designers around the world.

David Teten is a serial entrepreneur, Partner with ff Venture Capital,  and Founder and Chairman of Harvard Business School Alumni Angels of Greater New York. ff VC has made over 200 investments in over 70 companies since 1999. HBS Alumni Angels of NY is the second-largest angel network in New York. He formerly served on the board of Ionic Security and now serves on the board of Whisk. Anthony Casalena is the Founder and CEO of Squarespace, which he started from his dorm room in 2003. During the company's early years, Anthony acted as the sole engineer, designer, and support representative for the entire Squarespace platform, allowing for it to be a stable business from the outset. In addition to his main responsibilities in running the company and setting overall product strategy, he remains actively involved in the engineering, design, and product teams within the organization.

Jeff Smith, CEO of Smule, spoke to Startup Grind Silicon Valley on 01/27/2011. Smule is an American mobile app developer headquartered in San Francisco. The company specializes in developing social music-making applications for iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire. Some of their most popular apps are Magic Piano, Sing! Karaoke, Guitar!, I Am T-Pain, Ocarina, AutoRap and Songify.  If you haven't heard of Smule you've probably never used an iPhone.

Vernon is known to have reinvented American banking. He founded Commerce Bank (voted best bank in America by Jd Power in 2006, 2007 and 2008) and was its CEO until it was sold in 2007 for $8.5 billion. 



In 2010 he founded Metrobank, the first high street bank in the UK in more than 100 years. His mission: to revolutionise the UK banking industry.
